Spring Break Kona 2017

Spring Break Kona 2017

Well I have to say that this has been one of the busiest Spring Breaks ever. Its going on the 2nd week of April and most tour companies and shops are still busy. The weather across the islands over the past month or so has been flawless. Endless sunny and warm days and really nice sleeping weather nights. Which for most of the US was a huge break from one of the worst winters on record. Well for the California and other drought ridden area’s all the snow and rain was a blessing in disguise. Some parts of the US ski resorts will stay open until summer with all the snow!
Surf schools here in Kona have been loving it too. Most of the swells over the last 2 months have been small to medium in size, which is perfect for the beginner surfers. I paddled out on day in town on my SUP in the afternoon and there were still at least 6 surf schools in the water. The only thing that sucks is they bring the beginners all the way out to the peak and that sucks for us locals. To have total beginners taking off on your wave. Oh well whatever its Kona and were used to it around here.
We are winding down our annual whale season here in the islands. It was a spectacular one even for the Big Island, which normally only gets about half the amount of the big majestic creatures as the other islands. Overall even with the abundance of traffic and people from everywhere, its been a super fun spring break, and I can’t wait until next year to do it all again!
