My First Paid Tour

My First Paid Tour

So I finally had my first paid customer last week. I say customer because it was just one person. When he called to book it he mentioned 5 people for the tour. I told him that I would cut a deal for that many and I did. So we set it up to meet the following morning. I got there early as I always do to be prepared because I was so excited to have a five pack on my first tour. As I see him pulling in I notice that he was by himself. As he got out of the car I walked over and said hi. He quickly explained that they went out and tied one on the night before and the rest of his group were to hung over to go. I wasn’t mad especially when he still paid me for all five. I felt bad about it and I gave him half of it back. I know it was within the 24 hours I told him but I didn’t feel right taking it if it was just him. So I could tell he to was a little hung still himself. So I suggested to we do a easy snorkel out to the bait ball first and see how it goes.
As we walked down to the beach we got some time to chat about life. Which by the way, getting to know my clients a little and hearing there story is my favorite part. As we walked out to the beach we were the only people out there that morning. I pointed out to where we were headed went over some safety stuff and we made our way into the water. He was having some issues with his fins so I held them for him as we made our entrance . It was a little murky as we first got in and then as we made it out into deeper water it cleared up beautifully. So we snorkeled for about 10 minutes and he came up and said he didn’t feel comfortable being that far out. I then showed him that we weren’t paddling out as much or as far as he thought. We were paddling almost diagonally along the coast. I wasn’t exactly sure where the bait ball was so I told him just a little further. Then I spot it. a dark ominous looking cloud in the water in front of me. I look back and see that he is about 10 feet behind me. I make my way completely over the fish and as always I am totally amazed by what I see! Hundreds of fish gathered together in a pod or school below us! As he made his way to me I pointed to make sure he saw it too. He immediately got out his camera and started taking pictures. After like five minutes or so I asked him if he wanted me to get some pics? He said sure, but first he told me how amazed he was by this nature display. I then took the camera and started swimming right into the bait ball, going maybe 15 to 20 feet down to get the best shots. After about ten minutes swimming with the them I told him to follow me and we headed toward the coastline to see some more cool stuff. Just about that time, I look back and see him with he’s mask off. So I make my way to him and asked what was up. He was having issues with the mask he had on. And he told me that he was ready to head in anyway. So I took my mask off and traded with him. I wanted him to have the best time and it worked.
When we got to the beach he was just blown away that we just swim with hundreds of fish. He was ecstatic and I was happy that my first tour, even though it was just one person ended up being amazing!
